Sigma - Implemental View 1997 Brazil - DR 13

The band:

Claudio Penna - teclados e sintetizadores; Cristiano Moro - guitarra; Jameson Trezena - baixo; Alexandre Crescenzi - bateria

Influences:
Triumvirat; Emerson, Lake & Palmer; Rush; Happy the Man

Close to CAMEL and ERIS PLUVIA, this totally instrumental job have some soft and other fast pieces, always very melodic. Outstanding bassist give us a listening not so useful on Progressive rock works, with several bass solos.

Sigma was Born 20 years ago, having brother Sergio (drums) and Cláudio Penna (keyboards) with bassist Jameson Trezena (former member of Clavion, heavy-prog band from the 80’s, having recorded “Beyond the Frontier”). Having them just reached 18, started composing based on the influences of ELP, Triumvirat, focusing only on instrumental stuff. During five years with gigs and continuing its creative period, the band took part in 1994, with other popular prog bands (Dogma, Tisaris, Sagrado, O Terço, Recordando o Vale das Maçãs, Terreno Baldio, etc), in a Prog Festival. This made happen a contact (and then a contract) with Progressive Rock Worldwide, an important recording company at that time. The band so decided to call Cristiano Moro, guitarrist and great composer, in order to expand possibilities and enhance compositions and arrangements. Finally in 1998, “Implemental View” is launched and very well accepted by the specialized market (especially in Japan and Europe, with a very positive note from “Harmony Magazine”, among others). Right after the release drummer Sergio Penna left the band due to personal issues, and Alexandre Crescenzi joined the band, bringing his experience in having recorded with Wejah (another band from Progressive Rock Worldwide), along with his influences from Neil Peart, Bill Brufford and John Bonham. The band continued promoting “Implemental View” and already started a new project, even with some interruptions on the way due to personal issues. Nevertheless, the band stood steady and we are on the way to our second studio recording, loyal to the “basic” prog rock from the 70´s, instrumental and “maturely aged” to fulfill the Progressive Nation needs!
